North Tours
The north pairs the busy, colourful capital with gentler sightseeing and the island's most popular beaches. A morning in Port Louis takes in the covered Central Market, the harbourside Caudan Waterfront and the hilltop Citadel with its view over the city, with Chinatown a short walk away. From there the day opens out to the historic botanical garden at Pamplemousses and the sugar museum next door, before finishing at the much-photographed red-roof church at Cap Malheureux, right on the northern tip. It is an easy region to combine culture, history and a beach stop in one relaxed day.
