Caudan Waterfront

Port Louis's harbourside quarter: shops, restaurants, a craft market and the Blue Penny Museum by the sea.

Right on the harbour in Port Louis, Caudan Waterfront is a relaxed, walkable quarter of boutiques, craft stalls, cafés and restaurants, with the boats and the sea as a backdrop. It's an easy, pleasant contrast to the buzz of the Central Market a few minutes away.

Its craft market is a good spot for handmade souvenirs, spices, vanilla and rum, and the small Blue Penny Museum here tells the story of the island's history and its famous early postage stamps. You'll find local design and duty-free alongside places to sit for a coffee or a Mauritian meal by the water.

It pairs naturally with the Central Market and the Citadel for a half-day exploring the capital.
