Tamarin Falls (Seven Cascades)

A guided hike to a chain of seven waterfalls hidden in the green interior, with natural pools to swim in.

Tamarin Falls, known locally as the Seven Cascades, is a series of seven waterfalls tumbling through a lush valley near the village of Henrietta, in the Black River district. Fed by the Tamarin River, it's one of the most rewarding hikes in Mauritius and far quieter than the coast.

The guided trek takes a few hours through forest and along the river, with viewpoints over the falls and natural pools where you can cool off with a swim; some operators also offer canyoning and abseiling down the cascades. It's moderately challenging in places, with a bit of scrambling, so a reasonable level of fitness helps.

A guide is strongly recommended to find the route safely. Bring water, good shoes and something to swim in, and Krishna will sort the guide and timing.
